My brother in law used to push my sister in her wheel chair and one day he decided to get two electric chairs one for my sis and even though he could walk one for himself so that he could ride ride along side my sister for company.

One bright sunny day they went down to the sea front but had to cross tram lines, my sister went first and crossed safely but my b.i.law happened to get his wheel stuck in the tram lines.So he had to get out of the electric chair lift it up and push it over the tracks to the other side and as he got safely across he started kicking his legs in the air shouting to the onlookers " I can walk,I can walk, another miracle!"

Does that count?

Has anyone ever run into someone REALLY CREEPY while out in service?

i know i've run into quite a few weirdos.

i had one guy that told us that adolph hitler was going to come back from the dead to kill all jws.

needless to say, he didn't want a copy of the watchtower!

This is not what you would call creepy but it shows how easy it is for people to mistake you for what you're not.It was a Sunday morning the day after people were to hand in the ten yearly census form.On it is written details of household members, occupations ,date and place of births and their relation to the head of the house etc.

On this particular morning after ringing the door bell we were greeted with smiles and " come in please " and as we were half way up the hall I began thinking this guy is pleased to see us I'm not used to this reaction .As I was about to open my bible he said "please check my form to see if it's filled in correctly, hope I've filled it out O.K. There in front of us was all the private census details.

I had not got the heart to tell him that we were living in the last days and that the generations of census forms were about to be null and void.That was in 1961 ,there have been four more census returns since then and still no big A.

We just left quietly and said " the person you want is on his way up the street ,we will call again."

Another time I was out on the work I was offering a book for a small "donation" and this guy said "no thanks but I will buy your brief case off you." Obviously I was in the wrong line of business.

i heard it on the radio last night.

i was going to post it on the other 'should marijuana/cannabis be legalised' thread - but since this case involved alcohol as well, you can't be sure which 'drug' if either was a contributor to this sicko's actions.. i'm not going to post the full story here as some may find the details distressing.

it basically involved a guy who had been smoking weed and drinking who denied a dying woman any dignity in her final hours.

I propose that in the U.K. we bring back the stocks and shove these excuses for human beings in them for at least 48 hours while everyone in town humiliates them by throwing rotten food and worse at them, then throw them down a cold wet underground dungeon and feed them pig swill by a bucket on a rope.If these idiots want to behave like something from another age let them be treated in the same uncivilised manner as an example to other morons.

Let the punishment fit the crime for a change. Anti social behaviour orders; don't make me laugh.Why is it that most people know how to behave but a growing minority seem to think they can act in an insulting and debased manner .I think breaking rocks with a ball and chain around their feet is too good for some of them but I would get those barstewards into a regime of extreme hard labour until they reformed and offer them more of the same if they go back to their brainless ways.

It's always the weak and vunerable they seem to go for because those scum bags are cowards.You are correct Sad emo our country is plagued by sub civilised standards of behavior and we haven't even reached the peak yet.

The internet came along like the cavalry to the rescue and it's sorting out the Brooklyn Book Binding Bother Boys.Once upon a time the ordinary householder had very limited ways of refuting the Big Cult's claims but now with information available literally at one's finger tips the fight for freedom has come about through the one word the Witlesses like to use a lot and that word is TRUTH.They can no longer claim to have the truth because they have proven to be confidence tricksters not just slightly but over and over again and the difference is that thirty years ago ,and more, there was hardly any counter balance but now at long last it can be dramatically proven how wrong and harmful the New World Society is.

They cannot succesfully win the arguments anymore ,it is not as easy for them to mislead the public as it once was.Individual doubters who once were isolated are now a very large group with experiences to relate and can encourage one another and warn others not to fall for the evil falsehoods that are claimed as facts.

Let's raise a glass or two and give three cheers for the internet.

You remind me of an old man o' war that comes sailing past the enemy fleet fires a cannon ball over the friggin' riggin' and then scarpers in the mist to calmer waters in the hope of not getting a broadside back again from the superior gunners.

Hey! we don't really mind not seeing you in full sail but if you would like to board us we would make you most welcome and if you stay awhile you might learn how to navigate a truer course but if you don't like the ship's company we will send you back in one piece with best wishes all round.There is no walking the plank, keel hauling or lashes on this ship.

We are all just ships that pass in the night after all.

I'm just off to the poop deck ,due to the intake of Watchtower grog.

even my mother, who has been disfellowshipped for nearly 20 years still calls sites and literature like this "apostate".

Hi,

I'm here because to me the Brooklyn Book Binders are a load of two bit confidence tricksters parasitically living off the efforts of misguided but well meaning followers who are trying to win the ultimate prize of life everlasting in an airy fairy land as drawn by the art department.

In order to try and warn others not to be taken in by it I now and again submit my ten pennys/cents worth of input hoping it falls on fertile ground.One brother said to me " learn from other peoples mistakes not your own." I now know every active JW is making a massive mistake and I sure as hell learned the lesson from them and from the ones long dead.

As for trusting people who post here I will treat everybody with a degree of trust as I do with most people that I come in contact with because I suppose trust is something that is earned over a period of time anyway, but saying that, we are all only human with faults and anyone can hurt us just as we can easily hurt others.Problem is with this internet medium we don't always realise when we are treading on someone's toes.

If anybody comes to this discussion group with ulterior motives of infiltration let them do their worst and we will do our best and maybe they will see true facts and not Watchtower baloney.

I'm with yesidid on this one.When I was a Jdub we used to say "going out on the work or out in the field." That is in the Uk by the way.So there is different terminology for going on the door to door work.My Dad used to say "are you going Jehovering?" as if I was going hoovering.He wasn't a Witless by the way."Are you going canvassing ?," that was another expression he used.

I have heard a Witness say "if armageddon doesn't arrive in the next five years I'm out of it".A few times I have heard witnesses expressing doubts and thinking out loud .I've even known of a seventy year old who was around in 1914 saying he no longer believed he was of the annointed and stopped taking the emblems.That was in the sixties in case you wonder.

It is important to give people the benefit of the doubt sometimes. Better to keep somebody on board but tread warily than frighten the innocent away.I thought some of you were galloping off to the hanging tree for a minute there.

Maybe I'm right maybe I'm wrong.

At the hall last night

i went to the hall last night to get an insight book and a concordance.

i had set it up with an elder ahead of time to get them.

i arrived after the meeting had ended, walked up to the counter anxious to leave as quickly as i came when a big brother came up to me, planted his body in between me and the literature servant and started giving me the third degree about who i am, what is my standing in the congregation, and what did i want the books for.

A similar experience happened to me quite a few years ago.Just before the start of the meeting on a Friday evening .After I had paid for four or five different books a short tubby guy who had a stick in his hand ,he was opening windows with it,raced up from the front of the hall and started to harrangue me asking me where I had got the books from , were they paid for and if I was disfellowshipped etc. I told him that I had quit many years ago, his attitude was arrogant to say the least.He said, "you have a spark of interest,yes?" I said,"No ,I'm reinforcing my belief that you are a lot of tossers mascurading as christians and I believe in the statement ,"Vengance is mine sayeth the Lord " which means if I stick around long enough,one day I will see you and your excuse for christianity F*** yourselfs".

Needless to say I have never been near the Satanic house of correction since.It always gives me great pleasure relating this true story to the JWs' who like inviting me to their meetings when they come a knocking.I also never fail to mention that my local church offer a really warm christian welcome and there they can learn how to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. If they make the statement that they are discussing the Bible I always say " In what way can I help you understand it?" I also keep plenty of blood donor appeal leaflets handy ready to give out just as they take their leave.
